the tables and relationships are exactly what i wanted them to be, with linked tables, buttons and everything works really good.

my colour scheme is school themed and i think it is easy to read and wouldn’t cause too much strain on the user’s eyes.

if i had to do this task (yet) again i would do it in a better program and make it complex, and really good with search bars and everything!

i enjoyed this task but i don’t want to do it again.

This movie tells the, ever classic, story of Peter Pan, The boy who never grew up.

It starts off with Wendy telling a story to John and Michael, while Peter listens at the window.  Soon after this, Wendy is told she has the “special kiss”, a kiss that is meant for only one man, a trait she inherited from her mother and that she must move out of the nursery and, as the traditional story goes, on her final night in the nursery Peter appears to get his shadow, teaches them to fly and leads them to the address of “the second star on the right and then straight on til morning”, otherwise known as Neverland.

Upon arriving Wendy is separated from her brothers who are captured by Hook.

Through out the movie we are shown confrontations between Hook and Peter, finally resulting in one where Hook destroys all of Peter’s happy thoughts and he is unable to fly.  When all hope seems lost Wendy leans over Peter and kisses him. He flies up in the air and Hook joins him in a final battle.  Peter starts a chant to destroy Hook’s happy thoughts and he concedes and falls out of the sky, straight into the crocodile’s mouth. Wendy, her brothers and the Lost Boys all return to Wendy’s house to be taken in by Mr and Mrs Darling.

I love the story of Peter Pan and I have seen all every movie with a retelling or a sort of link to it.  My top two favourites are Hook with Robin Williams and this one.  It tells the story with parts that haven’t been in the previous ones and has amazing costumes and settings. I recommend it as a family movie because the story is classic and everyone can enjoy it.

This is a Miramax film.

This story is set in the time of the Cuban Revolution.  The Millers are moved to
Cuba for Bert’s job and in the first day Katey meets Javier who works at the hotel.  The next day she misses the bus and sees him dancing to buskers in the street, he catches her eye and he walks her back to the hotel inviting her to La Rosa Negra, a Havana nightclub, that weekend, Katey, unfortunately as to decline as she has already accepted an invite to a dance with James. 

When the dance gets boring Katey asks James to take her to the nightclub.  She walks in and sees the sensual way the people are dancing with each other and is entranced by it.  Javier spots her and asks her to dance with him, and it is like they were made to be partners, it is perfect. They then step aside to let the king and queen of La Rosa Negra dance, because when they dance, the floor is theirs.  After leaving the club James tries to take advantage of Katey, using the way she danced as his excuse.  She slaps him and races back into the club, to have Javier walk her home again. This time Susie, Katey’s sister, sees them and reports it to the manager of the hotel who fires Javier, as staff are not to mingle with the guests.

Soon after, Katey convinces Javier to enter a dance competition and they get through the semi finals by combining their dance style to form a routine of sensual elegance. 

During the finals their dance is interrupted by a police raid on the venue and they escape separately. Javier finds out that the revolution is over and to celebrate he sees Katey and together they celebrate in a way that their relationship has been hinting at for the entire movie.

The next morning Katey is told that they are leaving
Cuba and races off to say goodbye to Javier.  The final scene is of them dancing. As the King and Queen of La Rosa Negra.

Despite what the critics have said, this was a fantastic movie. I loved every minute of it.  Being a fan of dancing, these routines were amazing. There is a quote that I know

            “Dancing is a vertical expression of a horizontal desire”

I believe that, that quote, backs up this movie.  Every move is so blatantly sexual; you truly believe that all of these people are consumed with lust for each other.

I have never seen the first Dirty Dancing but I recommend the second one.

so far i have completed half my site, i have done the basics, now i am just fancying it up.

Extended useage of a computer program can lead to things like eye problems and back problems from poor posture in seating, as the designer i can address these issues by making my site very user friendly, quick and easy to use with not alot of stuffing around.

people can abuse my page by changing the features, (by accessing design veiw) and by attempting to sell faulty/ not in good condition products, therefore ruining the sites good reputation!!!

to stop things like this from happening i could save it in a passworded file, make sure nothing can be changed(save it as read-only) have user policies etc.

i have done my gantt chart and it is saved in microsoft excel.

i think that repeating a previous task in an easier even though different program isnot very beneficial for us. i, personally, think that we should be able to buy of sell what ever we want to instead of a classifieds or auction site for the school. i think that by allowing us to still create a database but about something that we are actually interested in will allow us to be more creative and show off our interests and we will enjoy the task more. thank you

Japanese Martial arts films have been described as “Fairytales and sci-fi on crack”. the implications of this are that fairytales relate to a damsel in distress, leading to a quest and a battle of good vs evil. The implication of them being “on crack” give the idea of everything being exaggerated greatly, emotions are all over the place and people are having random thoughts.  ‘House of Flying Daggers’ reflects all implications of this comment with scenes showing lots of bright colours and every sound being exaggerated greatly, for example, a rock hitting a bamboo tree sounds like the beat of a drum. When  a dagger is thrown at a person it is thrown with total accuracy over a great distance and when/if it is dodged it is done with lightening quick reflexes and ‘matrix style’ moves.  The main character, Mei, changes her mind all of the time.  First she refuses Gin because she is in love with Leo and then refuses Leo because she has fallen in love with Gin.

A pattern with Japanese films is that they tend to focus on images and sound effects rather than the telling of a story.  Some examples from the movie are the snow in the final battle and the love triangle. 
When Leo and Gin are fighting the snow comes up really fast.  This symbolises death and it, in a way, conveys to the audience that it is not only Mei dying but also Mei’s love for Leo dying as she chooses to sacrifice herself to save Gin.
The Love Triangle is an idea that the viewer is given throughout the entire with when they see that Leo ang Gin are both in love with Mei. An image of the triangle is actually shown during the final battle with Mei, the one who everything depends on is seen standing near the pair fighting over her but an overhead shot shows that she is making the 3rd side of a triangle:

 ”House of Flying Daggers is beautifully tragic” this was printed by the New York Times in 2005.  I think that this means that the story involves a love that could be so beautiful and so perfect and the tragedy is that, in this live, the love can never be and only through death can the two be together.  I agree with this statement. It is a beautiful movie, all movements are graceful and well done, scenery and colours are stunning and the death scene, although tragic, is still gorgeous like the rest of the movie, pristine white snow, harsh red blood stains and girl who died to save the one she loved.

 I usually don’t like these type of films but i really enjoyed House of Flying Daggers.
